Doctors these days are very busy. They don’t have time to tediously back up all their medical information onto disks. However, the information must be backed up. Computers fail all the time, and losing all that vital personal information could be disastrous. It could compromise the quality of a lot of patients’ care, perhaps causing life-threatening mistakes. That is where Web based EMR comes into play. The information is stored on highly secure servers, rather than on computer hard drives in the hospital, and backed up on a regular basis by the people who own the software. This frees up the pysicians’ and nurses time while still ensuring that patient information will be available when they need it.
