Ten years ago when my dad wrote his will he asked me to be the executor of his estate. At the time, I really didn’t know what was involved. My dad died last winter and because I was named the executor of will I learned of all the things I had to do. My best advice for others is to learn what an executor does before you agree to do it.  I feel a little guilty of not honoring my dad’s wishes but it is too complicated for me. Besides I live over 500 miles away from where the estate has to be settled and handling it makes me focus too much on losing my father, it is just too painful.
