Self-fulfillment, according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, is right at the top, and for most people, nothing can be more rewarding than fulfilling their need for self-expression in the form of oil paintings.  I am one of those people.  I appreciate art, beauty and nature.  I love going to museums.  But at some point I realized that it’s not enough for me to simply watch other people create art.  I wanted to be able to express myself as well, which is why I’ve decided to take up oil painting lessons.  I’ve debated whether to take a regular class or just buy an instructional dvd, and i’ve come up with the conclusion that for now, an oil painting dvd would be best and I would be more comfortable learning on my own than under the tutelage of a professional painter.
